HOT TOPIC_02: Metaverse convenience stores popular... CU opens its 2nd ZEPETO store

You all know the news that BGF Retail, which operates the convenience store CU, opened ‘CU ZEPETO Hangang Park Store’ on ZEPETO, right? This time, it's opening its 2nd ZEPETO store, ‘CU ZEPETO Classroom Shop.’ After the 1st ZEPETO store opened, the Hangang Park world map saw visitor numbers more than double from before, and verification-shot counts surged eightfold. On ZEPETO's social channels there are about 2,900 CU-related posts with over 2.7 million views, and amid such high interest, 220,000 CU avatar fashion items were also sold within ZEPETO. This 2nd ZEPETO store is scheduled to open in Classroom 2, one of ZEPETO's top-traffic world maps. CU, set to open as a school-cafeteria-style store familiar to Gen Z, says it will run various events to mark the opening. Yeon Jeong-wook, head of BGF Retail's marketing team, said, “The ZEPETO convenience store is reaping clear marketing effects—such as raising brand intimacy—by introducing CU to potential customers transcending time and space,” adding, “In particular, there are quite a lot of visits not only from within Korea but from overseas users in various countries, so it's also serving as an online channel through which we can make CU known to the global market.”
