Hello, this is Chris & Partners! 🤗 The range and speed of metaverse use keep widening and quickening. We expect an era may come when metaverse use becomes the new normal not only for the MZ generation—called the metaverse's main target—but for all generations. Let's look at what metaverse news has arrived. 📬✉
HOT TOPIC_01: “Catch ZEPETO” — SKT declares a metaverse world... reviewing an exclusive currency too

SKT's new metaverse platform, “ifland”, was unveiled. On the morning of the 19th, for the first time among Korean companies, it held a press conference in a metaverse space and presented a blueprint to grow ifland into the mecca of the contactless era. The goal is to introduce an economic system that can generate revenue within ifland and to evolve into a ‘metaverse world’ where business activities—commerce, entertainment, sports, and more—are possible. Currently it is also reviewing the issuance of an exclusive currency. ifland is a metaverse platform specialized in interest-based ‘gatherings.’ Going forward, SKT plans to hold large-scale events on ifland—university festivals, K-pop fan meetings, and more—to lead the social trends of the contactless era. Since its launch last month, it says it's receiving hundreds of partnership requests from educational institutions, companies, and more—for entrance and graduation ceremonies, festivals, online offices, new-employee training, corporate events, and the like—and it plans to push entry into the global market in earnest within the year. Jeon Jin-su, head of SKT's Metaverse CO, said it would make ifland “take its place as a part of a lifestyle where anyone can connect and meet new people.”
HOT TOPIC_02: DCinside and IMC Games join hands to enter ‘the metaverse’

With monthly visits reaching about 160 million, the community portal site DCinside and IMC Games, which developed MMORPG games like ‘Granada Espada’ and ‘Tree of Savior,’ agreed to jointly enter the metaverse business. The two companies' metaverse platform, slated for release in Q2 next year, aims to be an open platform spanning B2B and B2C, and plans to realize domestic and overseas community sites as they are, in a three-dimensional world too. In particular, if the metaverse is realized on DCinside—where communities of various topics have been solidly formed over the past 20-some years—the synergy is expected to be maximized. Kim Hak-gyu, CEO of IMC Games, noted, “Even if you realize a metaverse, it's hard if no community forms; if DCinside, whose users are mostly the MZ generation, takes part, it's already half a success.”
