Where to Hold a Conference in Seoul? Recommended Venues by Event Size (100–1,000)

Where to Hold a Conference in Seoul? Recommended Venues by Event Size (100–1,000)

Hello, this is Chris & Partners! 😊

When you take on event planning, one of the first hurdles is venue sourcing. You search 'where should we hold it?' and there's so much information it's overwhelming — we've all been there, right? 😅

Today, based on hands-on experience from the field, we've organized Seoul conference venues by size — from a 100-person seminar to a 1,000-person large conference. Let's look at venue selection, the starting point of event operation! 🗺

📋 What to check before choosing a venue

Sorting out a few things before picking a venue makes everything easier. From planning experience, these four are always checked first.

  • Headcount (confirm on a theater-style basis)
  • Event type (forum / conference / seminar / corporate event, etc.)
  • Budget range (confirm whether A/V, catering, and parking are included beyond the rental fee)
  • Accessibility (public transit vs. share of attendees driving)

In particular, hotel ballrooms often come with an F&B Minimum condition. When requesting a quote, we recommend always comparing on a 'total cost' basis. 💡

🏢 Small conference | 100–150 people

The 100–150 range has high attendee focus and active exchange with speakers. You can create an atmospheric event even without elaborate staging, so it's an approachable range for event operation.

① Korea Conference Center (Jongno-gu)

  • Location: Jongno-gu, Seoul | good subway access
  • Capacity: 30–200 selectable for seminar rooms
  • Features: varied configurations by purpose — lecture halls, seminar rooms, workshop spaces; excellent acoustics
  • Recommended for: seminars, lectures, corporate briefings, forums

🔗 Official site: Korea Conference Center

② SparkPlus Event Hall (Gangnam, Jongno, etc.)

  • Location: multiple Seoul branches — Gangnam, Seolleung, Jongno
  • Capacity: varies by branch, up to about 100–150
  • Features: modern coworking-based atmosphere, flexible layout
  • Recommended for: IT/startup conferences, networking events

🔗 Official site: SparkPlus Event Hall

💡 Planner TIP: For events around 100 people, a space that's too large can make the atmosphere feel scattered. A space that holds 110–120% of your headcount is just right.

🏛 Mid-small conference | 200–300 people

The 200–300 range is one of the most common for corporate conferences. For planners, it offers the widest choice of venues and the most room for budget adjustment.

① COEX Meeting Rooms (Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu)

  • Location: Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu | directly connected to Samseong Station (Line 2)
  • Capacity: 20–900 (varies by room)
  • Features: Rooms 201–203 seat up to 900 theater-style; many mid-small options
  • Recommended for: mixed domestic/overseas conferences, corporate seminars, academic conferences

🔗 Official site: COEX Meeting Rooms

② The Executive Centre (TEC) (Yeouido, Gangnam, etc.)

  • Location: Three IFC Yeouido, Gangnam Finance Center, Seoul Finance Center, and more
  • Capacity: from small meeting rooms to seminar rooms with a stage
  • Features: advanced A/V as standard, on-site IT support, usable without membership
  • Recommended for: corporate presentations, IR briefings, small conferences

💡 Planner TIP: From 200–300 people, demand for simultaneous-interpretation booths and breakout rooms begins. Be sure to check auxiliary spaces beyond the main hall.

🎤 Mid-large conference | 300–500 people

From 300–500 people, the complexity of event operation rises sharply. Registration desks, flow management, and catering space all need careful planning. It's also the size where teams more often bring in a specialist PCO.

① SETEC Convention Center (Hagyeoul, Gangnam-gu)

  • Location: Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu | ~3 min walk from Hagyeoul Station (Line 3)
  • Capacity: up to ~450 in the hall, divisible
  • Features: wide corridors/lobby good for promo booths, own parking, excellent catering space
  • Recommended for: government/public-institution events, academic conferences, forums

🔗 Official site: SETEC Convention Center

② JW Marriott Seoul (Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu)

  • Location: Sinbanpo-ro, Seocho-gu | near Express Bus Terminal Station (Line 9)
  • Capacity: from mid-small banquet rooms to a large ballroom; ~500 theater-style
  • Features: 5-star hotel service, easy VIP handling, high F&B quality
  • Recommended for: annual corporate conferences, award ceremonies, high-level forums

🔗 Official site: JW Marriott Seoul

💡 Planner TIP: From this size, day-of staffing plans matter. Placing staff at roughly 50–80 attendees per registration desk effectively reduces queues.

🌐 Large conference | 500–1,000 people

For large events of 500+, the venue itself becomes the event's 'face.' The first impression attendees remember — sense of scale, a polished lobby, a commanding stage — is all decided by the venue.

① COEX Grand Ballroom (Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu)

  • Location: Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu | directly connected to Samseong Station (Line 2), top-tier access
  • Capacity: up to ~900 theater-style
  • Features: dedicated lobby in front of the Grand Ballroom, own parking, excellent A/V
  • Recommended for: large domestic/overseas conferences, IT summits, international forums

🔗 Official site: COEX Grand Ballroom

② Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas (Samseong-dong, Gangnam-gu)

  • Location: Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu | near Samseong Station (Line 2)
  • Capacity: Grand Ballroom holds ~1,160 (1,494㎡, 5m ceiling)
  • Features: one of Korea's largest 5-star hotel ballrooms, 12 banquet rooms combinable, separate VIP waiting room
  • Recommended for: large international conferences, annual corporate events, award ceremonies, fashion shows

🔗 Official site: Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas

💡 Planner TIP: For 500+ events, 'locking the venue' is the starting point for everything else. We strongly recommend aiming to book at least 3–6 months ahead.

📊 Recommended venues by size at a glance

  • 100–150 → Korea Conference Center, SparkPlus Event Hall
  • 200–300 → COEX Meeting Rooms (mid-small), The Executive Centre
  • 300–500 → SETEC Convention Center, JW Marriott Seoul
  • 500–1,000 → COEX Grand Ballroom, Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas

Of course, the best venue for the same event can differ by its character. Considering both 'size' and 'event type' together is the basis of event operation. 😊

Seoul conference venue sourcing isn't simply about picking 'a big place.' Event purpose, attendee flow, budget, A/V environment, catering — every element must come together for truly good event planning.
