An Especially Meaningful 2021 Tourism Day, and News of CEO Na Seo-jeong's Prime Minister's Award

Hello, this is Chris & Partners.😊 These days, with cold winds blowing morning and evening, we feel autumn deepening. In October, a month with such a wonderfully clear autumn sky, we've come with new news from Chris & Partners.🍂

Chris & Partners CEO Na Seo-jeong receives the Prime Minister's Award

On September 27, Chris & Partners CEO Na Seo-jeong, marking the ‘48th Tourism Day,’ received the Prime Minister's Award🎉 Marking the ‘48th Tourism Day,’ the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism conferred government commendations on 23 people of merit in tourism promotion on September 27 at the Korea Tourism Association—including Grand Korea Leisure general manager Ko Gyeong-hun and Seoul Tourism Association secretary-general Kim Dong-yeop—and to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the conferment ceremony was held with minimal attendance and in compliance with quarantine guidelines, instead of a commemorative ceremony. It was a very meaningful day expressing gratitude for the toil and dedication of tourism people who overcame the unprecedented difficulty of COVID-19 and contributed to the development and popularization of Korea's tourism industry. Through the past pandemic period, Chris & Partners has come forward, constantly deliberating for the digital transformation and innovation of the MICE industry, and has advanced while working hard for the development of hybrid events. Going forward, even after COVID-19, we'll strive to be a Chris & Partners that further develops the value and goals of the MICE industry.

World Tourism Day 2021: Inclusive growth at the centre of tourism's restart

On September 27, 2021, World Tourism Day 2021: Inclusive growth at the centre of tourism's restart—at the official World Tourism Day 2021 event held in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, under that title, leaders from the political and business worlds gathered to firm up their resolve to restart and re-grow the tourism industry. Prime Minister Patrick Achi and Minister of Tourism Siandou Fofana welcomed the international delegation, signifying Côte d'Ivoire's firm support for the tourism and tourism ministers of 12 countries. This year's event was the largest ministerial participation in a Tourism Day celebration. As rising vaccination rates and With-Corona are being declared worldwide, the event that day was attended by 1,500 people—representatives of international organizations and the private sector and more—wearing masks.

The Prime Minister mentioned Côte d'Ivoire's pride in hosting World Tourism Day and the importance of restructuring the tourism industry to meet people's hopes and expectations, stating that tourism is a key sector for Côte d'Ivoire's growth and development. This development potential, using tourism as a driver, is about Côte d'Ivoire working hard for economic development and job creation for women and youth, and, he stated, development for all of Africa. He also emphasized this sector's unique capacity to lead the recovery from the pandemic's impact in Africa and across the world, and that day, UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili emphasized the industry's commitment to inclusive growth, so that the restart of tourism inspires hope in millions worldwide and everyone with a stake in tourism can have a say in the future.

A blessing in disguise for the tourism industry

Due to the COVID pandemic, the tourism industry suffered breathtaking difficulty, but it was an occasion where you could glimpse it developing and being reborn all the more strongly. Marking this year's Tourism Day, the Korea Tourism Association's meaningful award and the global Tourism Day event focused on inclusive growth were events that, more than ever, well distilled the original purpose and ideals of World Tourism Day. We look forward to the tourism industry leaping ever higher.🙏
