The 4th African Martial Arts Conference was operated by Chris & Partners this year too, following the 3rd last year. This year it was held under the theme ‘The Potential Role of the International Centre of Martial Arts for Africa,’ organized by the UNESCO International Centre of Martial Arts and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, Chungcheongbuk-do, and Chungju City.

As last year, the 4th African Martial Arts Conference was held in the international conference hall of the UNESCO International Centre of Martial Arts. As the COVID-19 situation worsened again, it ran in hybrid format this year too. On-site, we designed a back wall suited to the meeting's character and installed lighting, sound, PDP, and an LED screen, and more, helping natural interaction between domestic speakers who came on-site and overseas speakers attending online.

As an international meeting with participants from over 10 countries, for smooth proceedings simultaneous interpretation was also operated by Chris & Partners. We installed and ran a separate simultaneous-interpretation booth in the venue, providing Korean-English simultaneous interpretation.

At the 4th African Martial Arts Conference, the martial-arts education awards—a first attempt by the UNESCO International Centre of Martial Arts—were held online. We naturally staged online the Secretary-General presenting certificates, prize money, and medals to winners connecting online, and the winners giving their acceptance remarks online. Given the unstable network typical of the African region, we checked local network conditions multiple times in advance and ran technical rehearsals, and prepared a plan for speakers losing connection on the day, so we could respond flexibly even when a speaker's connection actually dropped. Given the real-time nature of online conferences, unpredictable situations can arise, but Chris & Partners' expert technicians stay on-site from before the event begins until it ends, always ready for any contingency.
