Case Study: Polygon at Tokyo Game Show 2024 — A Booth That Stood Out to 270,000 Visitors

Client: Polygon Labs

Event: Tokyo Game Show 2024 (organized by CESA)

Date: September 26–29, 2024

Venue: Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan

Scale: 270,000+ visitors across the show

Scope: International event planning & operation — Polygon Labs' booth, end to end

The brief

Tokyo Game Show is one of the world's three biggest game shows — Japan's largest game expo since 1996 and the hub of Asia's game industry, spanning console, mobile, and VR/AR. Polygon Labs came to TGS 2024 to put Web3 in front of that audience, and engaged Chris & Partners to plan and operate its booth.

The challenge

At a 270,000-visitor expo, the enemy is invisibility. Hundreds of booths — many backed by the biggest names in gaming — compete for the same footsteps, and a visitor gives each booth a second or two before walking on. A standard corporate build disappears here. For a Web3 brand courting gamers, the booth had to feel native to gaming culture, not like finance visiting a game show.

Our approach

Design for the walk-past moment. We went beyond ordinary booth design and built the space around a retro concept inspired by the 1990s American film Wayne's World — a nostalgic, unmistakably gaming-culture reference that read instantly from the aisle and gave visitors a reason to stop, smile, and step in.

Operate for four full days. A booth is a marathon: staffing, demo flow, crowd handling and daily resets across four days of expo traffic. As Polygon's operating partner we ran the booth end to end, keeping the experience consistent from the first visitor to the 270,000th.

Bridge Web3 and gaming on their terms. Every touchpoint was tuned to a gaming audience first — the culture, the humor, the pace — so the Web3 story arrived through a language the crowd already loved.

The result

Polygon's booth cut through one of the world's most crowded expo floors, drawing steady traffic through all four days of TGS 2024 with a build visitors photographed and remembered. The project shows what an international activation needs at mega-expo scale: a concept sharp enough to win the walk-past moment, and operations steady enough to hold it for four days straight.
